School Project - Wootton Upper School, Bedford, UK
No one at the Wooton Upper School Chinese Workshop had tried Chinese before. Everyone was between 10 and 14 and gifted and talented. What was it going to be like to be introduced to Chinese culture and the Chinese language?
The teacher was called Jinny. She said we would learn some useful phrases in the Chinese language - we would do some calligraphy, we would learn about the First Emperor and we would try out some instruments with famous composer Jiang Li (Traditional instruments and games).
We were in for a busy day. So what did we think? Here are some comments:
"It was a good experience to learn a new language"
"It was really cool to learn new words'
"Calligraphy is hard and complicated because it is unlike anything else"
"I liked the sound of the Chinese violin and the Chinese Harp as they sound completely different"
In the photos you can see some of us learning about and playing some traditional Chinese Musical Instruments.
You can also hear more about what we thought of the day in the sound files below.
