Culture is a function of language and viceversa

image image

Culture A language is a function of the culture it has evolved within. Even if Chinese people speak English you need to co-learn the language and culture to work with the Chinese. Contact us for our free advice sheet on co-learning the language and culture. Learning Chinese makes sense if you co-learn about Chinese culture. Mandarama offers not only games, books and puzzles but an internal encyclopaedia (‘pandapedia’). Pandapedia entries vary from modern city profiles, to fascinating history, to explanations of the Chinese language, to football and gymnastics. Much more than traditional Chinese festivals. Children use the internal pandapedia links to complete a school project or to follow their innate curiosity.

Community - Learning happens within a community without the unsafe feature of social networking/ chat rooms. Schools and children send in their own pandapedia entries as school projects (panda@mandarama.com). These are vetted before going on the site. Approval from an adult is required. E-cards are sent but with no addition of free text. Encyclopaedia entries can be shared – again with no dangerous personalization.

Personalised - Children can see their own pandapedia entries as school projects. Tagged and most popular content shows what others are playing. Featured characters and pandapedia entries, as well as the panda blog, create a dynamic personal feel to the site.
