We are experts at children learning Mandarin Chinese. We created Mandarama because the children we teach daily face to face needed an online resource that combined Western style approaches to learning with second to none knowledge of the Chinese language and culture. It is this modern approach that means modern children practise freely on Mandarama.

Practice makes Perfect
Children need to hear new words on average 20-30 times within different contexts before they are learnt. This is our over-riding educational principle. Mandarama provides a cost-effective, fun and safe practice environment.  

Context matters
Associating language with meaning is how languages are learnt young. A  baby learns the word for dog when a dog is pointed to and the word dog is said. Different contexts matter too – so seeing different dogs (color or size). So we work to use the same words in different contexts as well as use visual cues to show language in context. We avoid translation known to inhibit foreign language learning.
